I grew up between the hills of Tennessee, the cornfields of Indiana, and the mountains of North Carolina.
From early on, art and nature have been guiding forces in life, and meditation and embodiment practices joined the team along the way. I was raised in a home with thousands of books, and in a family where we repeated my Montessori preschool mantra "learning and growing everyday".
I studied visual art in high school at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and then psychology, biology, and art at UNC Chapel Hill. After graduating, I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, was elected to Boone Town Council, and started a company for sustainable & refillable products, called Resupply. But I felt I wasn't living from the core of my purpose - to connect people to nature directly.
I'm still involved in local sustainability initiatives by serving on boards and volunteering at ecological work days, but the soul of my work is in Woodsong, where I teach backcountry how to's and guide folks deeper into their inherent connection with the Earth.
Deep-thinking, sensitive-feeling, and truth-seeking are cornerstones in all I do - be it my understanding of the Universe, or the materials of clothes and the ingredients in food.
